Welcome

Rhodes College was founded in 1848 in Clarksville, Tennessee, was re-opened after the Civil War as Southwestern Presbyterian University, was relocated to Memphis in 1925 as Southwestern at Memphis, and was renamed Rhodes College in 1984. Today the Rhodes campus has a variety of buildings, renamed buildings, trees, plaques, portraits, and other artifacts that reflect its origins in the pre-Civil War South, Reconstruction, and the Jim Crow Era.
