Title
Carlisle Residence Hall; a residence hall named for James H. Carlisle
Background and Context
This structure opened in the fall of 1991 with the temporary name "New Women's Residence Hall," or unofficially "New Dorm." In October 2003, the board of trustees named the residence hall the Carlisle Residence Hall in honor of James H. Carlisle, the college's 3rd president, effectively reusing a name from an older building that had been demolished in 1981.
Physical Description
The residence hall is a three-story brick structure of about 35,000 square feet. It was designed to house 152 students in suite-style rooms.
