This portrait of Telfair Hodgson, first a professor in the Theological Department and then the third Vice-Chancellor of the University of the South, is among the historical portraits of the founders and officials of the University of the South hanging in Convocation Hall. Hodgson served in the Confederate Army and defended white supremacy in the decades after the Civil War's end.
